Testimonials

  • [The Universe(s) of Us] is a story and a production with a magical twinkle in its eye. In its bones is a narrative that is broadly universal: a journey of humanity and how we cross paths with each other to leave lasting impressions. It tells this story using a non-linear form of filmmaking that is creative, original, inspirational and beautiful...Now is the time for this movie, for a world that needs hope and understanding and diverse voices telling stories of authenticity and beauty with broad appeal. [The Universe(s) of Us] will deliver on its promise and give audiences a beautiful picture of humanity with a little bit of magic.

  • [The Universe(s) of Us] tells the story of the most unusual and complicated love triangle you may ever run across. The three points of the triangle are Sophie, Jill, and Daniel, young, attractive, talented, and complicated. We first meet them in a vivid montage opening scene when Sophie literally crashes into Jill and Daniel...The screenwriters deftly infuse their story with the imagery-rich sights, sounds, and smells of New York City, the perfect city for characters in search of their dreams. The main dreamer of the three is Sophie, a visual artist who can capture the likenesses and souls of African wildlife — sometimes at the oddest moments. Souls, the way they merge and seek out their mates, play an interesting thematic role in this story. But the big theme is Love. Parr and Sinnott make us delight not only in the characters’ discovery of love, but in their discoveries of their discovery. From there the plot goes into high gear as the triple journeys twist and turn to a conclusion that is moving, mysterious, satisfying, and totally human.
